VESTIBULAR NEURO-REHABILITATION APPLICATIONS FOR THE SPINE – SCOLIOSIS AND POSTURE
This course explores the neurological influence and cause of spinal conditions including poor posture and scoliosis. This 12 hour course explores the neurological influence and cause of spinal conditions including poor posture and scoliosis.
LEARN MORECOURSE OVERVIEW
Over the last 10 years, research has shown both an association and causation of various sensorimotor integration dysfunction in the development of scoliosis and poor posture. These include proprioception, vestibular, oculomotor, primitive reflexes and cortical regions as been involved.
In this course, we set out the neurophysiology and evidence linking poor brain function with spinal conditions. We explore the assessment and treatment of spinal conditions via vestibular neuro-rehabilitation approach, using low-tech and easy to implement tools and procedures.
This course is loaded with clinical gems and useful applications to better evaluate and offer brain-based therapies to improve patient outcomes
AIMS & LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Appreciate that scoliosis can be considered a neuro-musculoskeletal conditions
- Understand the brains/nervous systems influence on scoliosis and posture, specifically from the vestibular system and other spinal control centres
- Learn the latest evidence-based clinical neuroscience that is emerging in the causes and management for idiopathic scoliosis
- How to perform a multi-modal, brain-based assessment, including proprioceptive, vestibular, cerebellar, and cortical tests
- Consider how primitive and postural reflexes influence early neuro- musculoskeletal development
- Learn advanced techniques and protocols for managing idiopathic scoliosis and poor posture that consider spine, TMJ, eye movements, vestibular, sensorimotor integration, and advanced neuromodulation therapies
- Add these neuro-rehabilitation therapies to existing scoliosis techniques, This course is suitable for any manual therapy practitioner, with little or no training in clinical (functional) neurology

Dr Carlo Rinaudo is a registered Chiropractor, researcher and educator. He is the clinic director of a multi-disciplined clinic, focused on helping people with complex neurological conditions, including vertigo, concussion, migraines, learning and behaviour, poor balance, dysautonomia (POTS), neuro-degenerative, performance-enhancement and post-stroke. He completed a PhD in Vestibular (balance) Rehabilitation at University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Neuroscience Research Australia (www.NeuRA.edu.au), and is currently involved in further research in vestibular neuro-rehabilitation. Dr Rinaudo frequently presents and teaches practitioners across the world on similar topics.
